Description
The Concrete Sample (AU) screen provides data entry fields for this test method on the Measurements & Curing tab.
Field Prompt | Field Type | Description |
---|---|---|
Air (%) Compaction | Dropdown | Sets the Air Content Compaction Method based on the Concrete Compaction Method list. |
Air Gauge Readings | Number | Allows for entry of two air meter gauge readings. Displayed in red if the readings are not within 0.2 of each other. Rounded to the nearest 0.1. Unlocked if both Calculate (Apparent Air Content) and Calculate (Measured Air Content) are checked. |
Calculate (Apparent Air Content) | Checkbox | Controls whether or not the Apparent Air (%) is calculated or free entry. Unlocked if Calculate (Measured Air Content) is checked. |
Apparent Air (%) (Apparent Air Content) | Number | The average of the Air Gauge Readings when calculated. Only calculates if both values are set and within 0.2 of each other. Rounded to the nearest 0.1. Free entry if Calculate (Apparent Air Content) is unchecked. Unlocked if Calculate (Measured Air Content) is checked. |
Agg. Corr. (%) (Aggregate Correction Factor) | Number | Rounded to the nearest 0.1. Unlocked if Calculate (Measured Air Content) is checked. |
Calculate (Measured Air Content) | Checkbox | Controls whether or not the Air (%) is calculated or free entry. |
Air (%) (Measured Air Content) | Number | The difference between the Apparent Air (%) and the Agg. Corr. (%) when calculated. Rounded to the nearest 0.2. Free entry if Calculate (Measured Air Content) is unchecked. |
Data Entry Using the Concrete Sample (AU) Screen
As described in Air Content of Fresh Concrete (AS 1012.4.2:2014).
Data Entry Using the Bulk Entry Screen
As described in Air Content of Fresh Concrete (AS 1012.4.2:2014).
Reporting
The results for this test method are reported on the Concrete Test Report (AU).
Options controlling the reporting of air content are provided on the Options tab of the Concrete Sample (AU) screen.
Field Prompt | Field Type | Description |
---|---|---|
Air Content | Checkbox | Controls whether or not air content test results are reported for this sample. |
Air Content Compaction | Checkbox | Controls whether or not the Air (%) Compaction is reported. |

Air Content Results
When the Measured Air Content (%) result is recorded it will be reported under the Air (%) field.
If no Measured Air Content (%) is recorded, but the Apparent Air Content (%) is, it will be reported in place of the previous result under the AppAir(%) field.
Air Content Compaction Method
When the Air Content Compaction Method is reported, it is shown immediately before the Specimens Compaction Method in the format illustrated above. This is the Compact result, "55H/25H".
The following remarks will be added to the Remarks section:
- Descriptions for the compaction procedures reported.
- When an air content compaction method is reported, the remark: "Air content compaction", with the superscript "a" placed next to the result above as well.
Notes for Air Content and Compaction Standards
When the Measured Air Content (%) result is recorded a note will be added to indicate the method was AS 1012.4.2.
If no Measured Air Content (%) is recorded, but the Apparent Air Content (%) is, a similar note will be added that also indicates it was an "apparent" result.
If the Air Content Compaction Method is both recorded and the checkbox to report it checked, the compaction method of AS 1012.4.1 will also be appended to the note.
Grouping Apparent and Measured Air Content Samples
Samples that report air content results as apparent air content will be grouped separately to those that report measured air content.
When a sample has no air content values, remaining values will generally be combined with those of the other available samples, whether they use they measured or apparent results.
Samples that have the Report Air Content checkbox unchecked will be grouped separately without an air content caption.
Reported Values
Field | Database Field Name | Unit | Precision | Condition |
---|---|---|---|---|
Air (Measured Air) | MeasuredAir | % | nearest 0.2 | When the air content value has been directly recorded or calculated and the Report Air Content checkbox is checked. |
AppAir (Apparent Air) | ApparentMeasuredAir | % | nearest 0.1 | When the apparent air content value has been recorded or calculated, there is no Measured Air value available, and Report Air Content is checked. |
Compact (Specimens Compaction Method / Air Content Compaction Method) | CompactionMethod AirContentCompactionMethod | Displays the Air Content Compaction Method when the Report Air Content Compaction checkbox is checked. Displays the Compaction Method when recorded. | ||
Notes | Air content standard added when results are reported. Air content compaction standard added when compaction is reported. | |||
Remarks | Details on the Air Content Compaction Method added when a method is reported. |
