Applies to QESTField Tests

This article describes how a field user can add specimens to a concrete field test using QESTField tests.

Contents

Overview

Concrete Field test workflows can be added to Work Orders as described in Adding Field Test WorkflowsAs part of the Concrete Field Test workflow, users are able to add concrete specimens that will be later transported back to the laboratory for testing.

Specimens Section

The Specimens section for Concrete Field Testing workflows include a Test Group dropdown menu, Add Specimen button as well as a Add Shrinkage Set button.

More details on the options are provided in the sections below.

Test Group

Selecting a test group from the drop down will pre-create specimens at specific ages, types and if they are charged.

Note

The test group drop down is populated from the Concrete Test Groups list in QESTLab. If new test groups are required, these need to be added to the list in QESTLab.

Changing Test Groups

Selecting a different test group to one already selected or selecting a test group when specimens have been manually added will clear all existing specimens and add those defined in the test group. The user will first be warned that this may happen and be given the opportunity to cancel the operation.

Once a test group is selected the Specimens section will automatically populate with the specimen information set in the test group.

Add Specimen

A specimen can be added to the concrete field test by tapping the Add Specimen button.

Note

If adding a specimen where some already exist, it will be added to the end of the test group and the age will be copied from the last existing specimen. If the age of any specimen is changed, the specimen will be re-arranged in order of age.

Each specimen allows data entry to provide details about the specimen and curing times.

Field PromptExpected Information
Mould Used to track the Mould number used for casting the specimen.
Type

The test to be performed on the specimen, e.g. COMP100, FLEX150.

Hold

The Hold checkbox is used for specimens that are not going to be tested unless there is a problem discovered with one of the other specimens. When the box is checked the Age - Days, Age - Hours and Test Date fields will be locked and the Age - Days will be set to 999.

Age - DaysThe age of the specimen, in days, at which the test must be conducted. Changing the age will change the Test Date.
Age - Hours

The age of the specimen, in hours, at which the test must be conducted. Changing the age will change the Test Date

Important

When the Age - Hours field is populated the Age - Days field will be overwritten and locked to show the rounded age in days.

Test Date

The test date for the specimen.

Note

This is automatically calculated by taking into account the:

  • Date Batched, Time Batched and Date Cast on the Product Information page.
  • The Time Sampled and Time Moulded on the Concrete Field Data page.
  • And the Age - Days and Age - Hours on the Specimens section.
Charge

The Charge checkbox is used to determine whether the charge for this specimen will be included on the automatic generation of charges for this sample. Checking this box add the "Charged" text next to description of the specimen in the Specimens section.

Add Shrinkage Set

A shrinkage set can be added to the concrete field test by tapping the Add Shrinkage Set button.

Each shrinkage set allows data entry to provide details about the specimen and curing times.

Field PromptExpected Information
Compaction MethodThe compaction method used for the test, populated from the Concrete Compaction Method list in QESTLab.
Mould AThe mould the first specimen was placed in, selected from QESTLab's active Shrinkage Mould equipment register or by free entry.
Mould B

The mould the second specimen was placed in, selected from QESTLab's active Shrinkage Mould equipment register or by free entry.

Mould C

The mould the third specimen was placed in, selected from QESTLab's active Shrinkage Mould equipment register or by free entry.

Charge

The Charge checkbox is used to determine whether the charge for the set will be included on the automatic generation of charges for this sample. Checking this box add the "Charged" text next to description of the specimen in the Specimens section.

Removing a Specimen or Shrinkage Set

Specimen(s) and shrinkage sets can be removed by tapping the  button when the specimen or shrinkage set is selected.
