Project and Laboratory Managers

QEST Platform 4.91
Applies to QESTLab

Articles in this section relate to processes and tasks that are carried out in the laboratory by project and laboratory managers.

The QEST Platform provides a feature rich set of tools to assist with project and laboratory management. Project and laboratory managers create and manage reference data through the use of lists, competencies, specifications and work templates. Access to create and manage these areas is controlled through the use of Role permissions.

Lists are used to populate drop down fields in worksheets as well as storing a list of projects and clients. These can be project-specific items like approved mix designs or more general items like descriptions of weather. Lists can have local or global scope, meaning the items contained in a list are available either at all laboratories, just one laboratory or a mixture of the two with some being global items and others local.

The competency feature is available in QESTLab and is used to control the access to test method worksheets based on a user's competency level. Competency levels are commonly used by project and laboratory managers to track which test methods a user has appropriate training or experience in completing. Competency levels define a users right to read, edit, add, delete test results and sign test reports containing those test methods.

Specifications are an important tool in defining acceptable limits for any test result. Specifications can be created to apply on a project to project basis or more generally. These limits are shown on the test screens during data entry, can be displayed or noted on test reports and management reports and will mark documents as Out of Specification if the limits are breached. This special status flows through the entire QEST Platform, from QESTField and QESTLab during data entry and report review through to triggering special Construction Hive notifications if desired.

A work template is a collection of tests that are commonly performed together and their associated reports that can be registered with a single click.. Work templates can be created from an existing work order, copied from existing work template or from scratch.
