Overview

The Email settings used by QESTNet can be configured through the QEST Web App's Email administration page.

SMTP Settings

SMTP settings are required to be able to send emails from QEST Platform products.

Fallback From Address: the address that will be used as the from address for emails sent from QESTNet. This will only be used if the user who sent the email does not have an email address set within the QEST Platform.
Hostname: the name or IP address of the host used for SMTP transactions.
Port: the port used to connect to the host for SMTP transactions. This defaults to 25.
Use TLS: specifies whether Transport Layer Security is used is used for SMTP transactions
Use default user credentials: determines whether the default credentials are used for SMTP transactions.
Username: Applicable only if the Use default user credentials checkbox is not checked. The username used to authenticate the client when performing SMTP transactions.
Password: Applicable only if the Use default user credentials checkbox is not checked. The password used to authenticate the client when performing SMTP transactions.

These settings control properties of the emails sent by the QEST Platform. These settings will not affect emails sent via Data Integrators.

Send email from SMTP fallback address instead of sender address - specifies whether emails will be sent from the configured fallback address (see above) rather than the sender’s email address. This should be activated on systems where emails cannot be sent from user email addresses.
Set reply-to as sender address - specifies whether the reply-to address of the email will always be set to the sender. This should be activated to prevent replies from going to the fallback address.

Once the settings have been saved, you can send a test email using those settings. The test will respond as to whether it succeeded or failed.

If the test fails, the reason will be displayed such that the settings can be corrected.
