QEST Platform 5.5 Documentation
Applies to QESTLab

Articles in this section relate to processes and tasks that are carried out in the laboratory by laboratory technicians.

Laboratory technicians can complete data entry on hundreds of detailed test method specific electronic worksheets. The QEST Platform covers a wide range of test methods, including ASTM, AASHTO, US State DoTs, Australian Standards, Australian State DoTs, British Standards, and New Zealand Standards.  Using QEST Platform external document functionality, data can be entered through custom electronic laboratory worksheets created by the user's organization.

Access to test method worksheets are controlled through the use of Role permissions or individually for each laboratory technician through the use of Competencies.

Registration of samples and tests is made easy with work templates which allow work orders to be created automatically with all of the necessary samples, tests and reports. With this flexibility, a template can be created for a set of work which is performed commonly, including regularities in subject such as the material for each sample and the associated tests for that material, attached to the sample.

Improving a laboratory technician’s efficiency and accuracy can be realized through specialized modules within the QEST Platform. Equipment interfacing provides for electronic data collection directly from laboratory equipment and can eliminate data transposition errors by laboratory technicians. Equipment interfacing can be further enhanced by using the specialized concrete testing and Kiosk applications available in the QEST Platform. Kiosk functionality in QESTLab uses a scanner to read barcode labels on moisture tins. Two specialized modules are available for concrete testing. The QESTLab Measure Station is for interfacing to a laser measurement apparatus and balance and the QESTLab Crushing Station for interfacing to a concrete compression machine.
