Associating a Tin with a Test
Applies to
The association between a tin and a moisture content test at the start of moisture content testing
Contents
Overview
During the initial setup of a moisture content test, associating the tin with the test and entering mass readings (tare and wet mass) can be achieved in two ways:
Directly from the test worksheet that contains the moisture content test
Opening the Moisture Content - Wet Mass Entry page
Associating from the Test Worksheet
The most common way to associate a tin with a moisture content is within the test worksheet as other data is being entered. For example, when performing a Proctor Test the data from each trial can be associated while working through the test.
In the test worksheet, select the desired Tare ID field and scan the tin. This will move the cursor into the Tare Mass field for data entry. This can be done automatically when lab equipment is interfaced with QEST Web App or can be typed in directly. Once the Tare Mass has been entered, scan the tin again and the cursor will move to the Tare & Wet Mass for data entry.
Subsequent tins may be setup on the same test by repeating these steps.
Scan the tin in the Tare ID field
Enter or interface the Tare Mass
Scan the tin again, enter or interface the Tare & Wet Mass
Using the Moisture Content - Wet Mass Entry
An alternative to entering into the test worksheet is to enter wet mass data in bulk. To do this, open the Moisture Content - Wet Mass Entry page and scan the tin’s barcode into the Tare ID field. Once scanned successfully, the cursor will move to the Tare Mass field to be entered.
Once the Tare Mass is entered, scan the tin’s barcode again and this will select the Tare & Wet Mass field for data entry.
If the balance has been setup to interface with QEST Web App, the mass values can come directly from the balance. If a balance has not been setup to interface, these values can be entered into these fields.
