Navigating to a Test
Applies to QEST Web App
Using barcode scanning to navigate to a test
Contents
Overview
Once barcode sample tags have been printed, they are scanned to allow fast and easy navigation to tests.
Barcode Scanner Setup
The barcode scanner to be used will need to be keyboard wedge style with programmable output. In order to utilize the programmable features, some initial setup may need to be completed. Refer to Configuring Keyboard Wedge Scanner Barcode Prefix Key and Programming Keyboard Wedge Barcode Scanners for additional information.
Barcode Scanning
Barcode scanning can be completed in two ways; using a barcode scanner or a device camera
Using a barcode scanner
The easiest way to navigate to a test is by using a barcode scanner to scan the barcode associated with the specific test from within QEST Web App.
Once successfully scanned, the test worksheet associated with the barcode will be opened for data entry.
Using a device camera
To utilize the device camera or manually enter a barcode, select the QR Code Scanner Icon within QEST Web App.
Clicking this button will provide a dialog box that shows:
Video device/camera selection
Preview of the output of the selected device
Input field that shows the barcode scanned if it is not recognized or allows a barcode ID to be manually entered in the case that scanning is unavailable.
Once successfully scanned or manually entered, the test worksheet associated with the barcode will be opened for data entry.
Unrecognized Barcodes
If the code scanned by either method is not recognized as a registered barcode, the scanned ID will be shown in the ID field along with a warning.
