Associated Test Results
Applies to QEST Web App
The following article describes how embedded and imported test result functionality is implemented in QEST Web App.

Overview
Laboratory test methods will often incorporate the results from other tests as part of an intermediate calculation needed to produce a final result. There are a number of scenarios that arise requiring this type of relationship between a main test and its associated test.
To allow flexibility where results from different tests have to be considered together, there are three ways to import an associated test result:
Measured as part of this test
Import from another test
External source (final result only)
Measured As Part of this Test
Where an associated test result is derived as part of the typical workflow for the main test, there is an option to enter values and calculate the associated test result on the main test’s worksheet. The example shown below is for measuring the As-Received Water Content for an Atterberg Limits test. All of the rules and logic are the same as in the standalone water content test but it is completed as part of the larger Atterberg Limit test and displayed on the same worksheet.
Import from Another Test
Choosing Import from Another Test allows the user to select a result from another completed standalone test by entering the sample number of the test the user wishes to import from, or importing a test on the current sample.
If a value is imported from another test, an Open Worksheet link will be provided for the user to navigate to that test.
The user will see an informational banner stating that this result is now being used elsewhere so care should be taken before changing any results here.
The user can navigate back to the main test by clicking on the test method name in the banner.
External Source
Where results for a given test have been supplied by a third party, rather than in-house, the user can select External source (final result only). This allows recording the Source of the result, the Test Method followed to obtain the result and, the final result rounded appropriately as per the test method.
The Test Method selection is restricted to only those methods permitted by the parent test method. If there are no restrictions defined in the parent test method, the field will allow free entry to record the associated test method used.
